V-1 Strikes in SE6, Catford area
I've seen reference to as many as 32 V-1 strikes in London's SE6 postcode (in and around Catford), but cannot find details as where all of these bombs hit. Can anyone please provide a reference or list of approximate street addresses for the strikes in SE6?
Thanks, Steve |

Re: V-1 Strikes in SE6, Catford area
Apparently there is a map of all the V1 bombsites across greater London in the third volume of "The Blitz - Then & Now" by After The Battle Press.

Re: V-1 Strikes in SE6, Catford area
Hi Steve
take a look at this site - It doesn't stipulate 40 in the Catford area, but the information on this site should help with tracing places. http://www.flyingbombsandrockets.com/statsbypostcode.html my own former property in Elmers End Road Beckenham, about 200 yards from the bus garage, was damaged on 18 July 1944 - however, buses were running from the remains of the garage the following day. cheers Allan

I'll go back and dig a little deeper at the site that you mentioned. Found reference to a couple of strikes, but not more than a few. A very good effort has gone into that site, but the owner hasn't gotten around to detailing SE6 yet. Originally from that area myself, near Beckenham Hill Station. Cheers, Steve |

Hi Steve
Pleased to help - I hope you can find more information either on that site or elsewhere on the web. You have moved a little farther from the Beckenham area than I have, that's for sure!! cheers Allan

Re: V-1 Strikes in SE6, Catford area
Mark, thanks for the lead. I'll try to track down a copy of the LCC bomb damage book (oh that I could just stop by). The flickr map of Catford is about 1km north of what I need - looking for strikes in Bellingham near Southend Lane and the Beckenham Hill Station.

Holy cow! It would actually be far cheaper for me to fly to London and see the maps first hand. I have access to US Military library system - fingers crossed that I somehow get a look at a copy.
