F5s MIssing SWPA-July/August 1945

HI Folks,

While cataloging my magazines ( a full time job ) I came across an article written in the Oct 98 issue of "Air Classics". The article was titled "Singapore Mission" by Richard Brown and it was a narrative of the last 13th AF P-38 mission, which was an armed reconnaissance to Singapore.

The article starts with the following paragraph:

"A Lockheed F-5 Lightning was sent to Singapore Harbor in July 1945 for pictures, but it never returned, A second plane was sent out on 1 August 1945, It returned with combat damage and crashed on our runway at Palawan ,killing its pilot. The aircraft burned burned but some of the film was saved. The pictures showed 125 Japanese fighters on four concrete runways at Singapore."

Does anyone have any more information on these two airplanes?

The only possible link I was able to glean was that Lt. David Alleman, s/n O-779304, 8th Photographic Recon Squadron, 6th Reconnaissance Group was MIA/KIA on July 1,1945. According to "The Eight Ballers:Eyes of the Fifth Air Force" he was "Killed in a crash north of Subic Bay July 1,1945".
There is no MACR but there is a listing in the American Battle Monuments Commision website.
I do not know what his mission was, so this is only a tentative link.
