Do 217 ground collision Soesterberg 29.4.42

Hi all,

On 29 April 1942, a Do 217 from KG.2 and another from KG.40 were involved in a landing collision at Soesterberg airfield. The F and Bm from the latter were killed.

Can anyone shed any light on the details of this incident - and in particular whether either of the two aircraft had been involved in the raid (29/30 April) against Norwich ?

TIA for any information.

Regards,

BC

Matti,

According to Balke: Do 217E-2 Wnr. 1156 of IV./KG 2 was part of the operation to Norwich. He does not give details about the a/c of KG 40.

Matti, Jaap, Chris -

Collectively, many thanks for your valued input.

A friend is doing a book on the 1942 Norwich raids and I was basically interested in finding out whether these two aircraft were involved in the 29-30 April Baedeker raid.

TVM for your help.
