Ju 87 loss 22/7/1942
Hi
A photo on eBay here shows a crashed Ju87. The date and location is shown on the rear. The date is 22/07/1942. The seller claims the location as Sambek. I am not totally convinced by this transcription, and can not find such a location. The seller also claims this to be in the Ukraine (which could explain why I can not find it). A photo in the same collection, dated a few days later is taken at Rostov. Ian |

Re: Ju 87 loss 22/7/1942
Hi Ian,
there is one loss for 8./StG 77 on that day in the east. Unfortunately the location was not reported in GenQM report. Regards, Norbert |

Re: Ju 87 loss 22/7/1942
Ian,
How about Sambek - Rostovskaya oblast, Russia North of the Sea of Azov, north east of Tangarog and approx 45 km west of Rostov on Don.

Re: Ju 87 loss 22/7/1942
Many thanks to all. Andy, I have now also found Sambek on Google-map, although there was no result when I originally searched for it!
Jim, I would assume that if Bauhaus was stkap. Then it should be S2+AS…although he may of course been in a different aircraft on this flight. Cheers Ian |

Does Matti or anyone else have the code for this machine? Presumably 'S2+?S'? Last edited by Jim P.; 12th December 2011 at 23:59. Reason: Added question. |

Re: Ju 87 loss 22/7/1942
In theory the code 'S2+AS' would be the most obvious guess, but without being able to see it on the aircraft (we can't) or some documentary evidence, as you said, he may well have been flying another machine.
