Aircrew lost over England - 12.05.1940?
Hi,
just bought a photo of a Luftwaffe airman with notation on back statingthat he fell on the 12th May 1940 while over England. His surname looks a little like Sahn - born in 1919. Does this link to any information to crea lost over England on this date/ Thanks Rick |

Re: Aircrew lost over England - 12.05.1940?
Rick does the photo show the rank of this airman and is there a first name shown. There was a Bm Uffz. Franz Jahn of Wekusta 26 lost on 31-3-40 whoes body was later found and buried at sea. A Ltn Ullrich Zahn of III/KG30 was lost on 9-4-1940 later washed ashore Denmark. Could not find a loss over England on 12th. May, KG26 were operational around the UK in the period but no Sahn or similar shown lost in the KG 26 book,

Re: Aircrew lost over England - 12.05.1940?
If the date is the 12-6-40 Wekusta 51 lost a Heinkel 111 over the Channel the crew included Bf Uffz.Franz Boinski and Bs Uffz.Willi Steigelmeier both lost, could not find a loss against England on 12-5-40. Other crew were Ff Oblt. Gerd Nissen POW , Reg.Rat Dr. Hermann Freudenberg + and Bm Ofw. Hans Peckhaus POW. If this loss is a possibility would the dark Waffen colour of the rank patch indicate Signals Section indicating a Bf ?

Hi,
Is there a way of finding out when Bf Uffz.Franz Boinski was born as the date on the back of the photo says 1919? Rick |
