eBay Bf110 S2+EC crash?

At eBay here is a crashed Bf110 marked S2+EC, which should therefore be of Stab.II/StG 77. The seller appears to suggest the location as Poland, although the photo appears later. I have seen this photo before, so hopefully it is known...are there any other details on this?

cheers

Ian

Ian,

This has a white theater band, so is definitely Russia or east. I agree with your unit ID.

Regards,

Larry,

white fuselage band and Eastern front, not Mediterranean theater?
I am slightly irritated.

Re: eBay Bf110 S2+EC crash?

Comparing with the white in the Balkenkreuz as seen on the fuselage the darker tone of the fuselage band, tells me it was a yellow band and not white.

Ian,

There is indeed one loss report in the GQM list for Stab II./StG 77: on 20.Jul.1941 the Bf 110E-2 WNr. 3764 was lost due to enemy action in the Kiew area. Both the pilot Oblt. Bode and the radio operator Gefr. Gniewetta were killed.

Re: eBay Bf110 S2+EC crash?

The loss of WNr. 3764 was also recorded as 100% with the SKZ 'KC+YR' (KE+YR?). The loss depicted in the photo is unlikely to be the same machine.
