Sütterlin handwriting

Hi all,

Can anyone make out what is written here? The first word is "Flugzeug" and a little further "KG 54" can be seen but the rest is jibberish to me.

The picture itself shows a fuselage of a F/L He111 of KG54 being hauled away on a lorry.

Thanks in advance,
Rudi.

Re: Sütterlin handwriting

Gents,

i can not decipher much but possibly turning the attachment into a negative (see below) helps a little bit.

Best Regards
Norbert

Apparently because Hitler decided that the Blackletter/Gothic scripts (to which Sütterlin belonged) were of Jewish origin. The use of them was prohibited in January 1941 and they had to be replaced with the Latin type.
Off course it's hard to believe that this was the real (or at least the only) reason, even with the anitsemitism of the Nazis in mind. This would have been much too irrational. You don't make a change that big based on such a ramshackle assumption.
I googled a bit and got the impression, that the real reason for this decision is not really known. If you are interested and can read German, here is a good starter:

Christian

Re: Sütterlin handwriting

Re: Sütterlin handwriting

Thanks everyone for your replies. Very much appreciated.

I don't think it's Freiburg, Fachenberg or Fockenberg. I think it's more likely a place in France or Belgium. If it is however in Germany then it should be somewhere in the north.

It is indeed a very bad handwriting so we may possibly never know where the picture was taken.

Regards,
Rudi.
