Bf 109 damaged or shot down - 03rd May 1940 - Elbe estuary
Good afternoon to all.
I am trying to check a Hudson claim of a Bf 109 near the Elbe estuary. The single Lockheed was attacked by three Messerschmitts. One was claimed as shot down and one as damaged. Any information about the probable victims are welcomed (may be from JG 1). Thanks indeed. Adriano |

Re: Bf 109 damaged or shot down - 03rd May 1940 - Elbe estuary
Hello,
In the EoE Luft Loss DB, I have only a couple of engine failures for 109s. Nothing on I./JG1. Here is only possibility and this doesn't speak about air combat: "May 3, 1940: I./JG53 Messerschmitt Bf109E-1. Damaged in forced-landing at Saarbrücken airfield (Germany) following engine failure. Pilot injured. Aircraft 55% damaged but repairable." Regards, |

Adriano,
The Hudson was N7319 of No.206 Squadron which belly-landed on return to Bircham Newton badly damaged in attacks by Uffz Reinhold Schmetzer and Uffz Herbert Kaiser of 6.(J)/TrGr.186. No losses to the attacking German fighters were recorded. |
