Re: Internet photo of German aircraft

Hi Ed,

Unless I am mistaken, what you have there is a new photo of:
Ju88G-1 (712283), 3C+AR (3C=1/5 size), 7./III./NJG4, near Maastricht, Holland

Thanks again for all your hard work.

Re: Internet photo of German aircraft

Thanks again, Ed.

I will correct my files as to the location.

Regarding the crew, I must have additional errors in both my database file and my photo file. Under Werknummer 712283, I have two photos of what looks to be the same aircraft the morning after it was shot down. There are clearly two deceased Luftwaffe flyers lying on the ground near the smashed cockpit. So if your information is correct, then I also have misidentified Ju88 photos in my file.

Re: Internet photo of German aircraft

Hi Ed,

Hm I´m a bit confused, b´cause if the crew of Fw. Neuhäuser all becomes POW, then they couldn´t been in the 712283.

In my book "Deutsche Nachtjagd" Ergänzungen zu Personalverlusten...." I had at page 460 2 colour photos of a Ju 88 (which I believe its the 712283 from the front), showing 2 dead crewmembers.

I think its the 712283, b´cause this plane also collided with a glider when crashlanded.

I had Neuhäuser and crew with the 3C+CS and all bailed out after hit by AA fire.

So now whats right ?

Kind Regards

Re: Internet photo of German aircraft

Michael,
Yes, info seems does not fit. Problem here are "two dead" crew. I am not expert in the aircrew, some of my reply yesterday has been noted as coming from Ultra 28.03.45, AIR 40/2697 P.79 (T.502/96) but this I have not found again on my storage disk (last night and again today) - hard to memorize all, but I do not rule out either I may have put up the wrong crew for 712283 or NVM have put wrong W.Nr. on report - but here is what I have found today. Interestingly there was another (third plane) lost, coded +AR (i.e. G-6 D5+AR) and also after attack in Wesel Bridgehead area. I need look better at this, as I do not have the photos you refer to.

Ju 88 G-1 712283 3C+AR (24.03.45, ) = 4 POW - NVM (& Ultra?)
Ju 88 "G-1" 620982 3C+CS (25.3.45, 23.40 hrs) = 1 KIA, 3 POW - NVM but ADI(K)264/45 has 1 injured, other uninjured
Ju 88 "G-6" xxxxxx D5+AR (26.03.45, 01.00 hrs) = 3 MIA, 1 POW - ADI(K) 266/45

I too wonder what is correct regarding the dead crew on 3C+AR but indeed the Waco Glider is visible on the internet photo.

regards
ed

Re: Internet photo of German aircraft

Sadly I had none of the 2 pics in my pc - but few days ago there was another thread to identify some pics:

http://www.eucmh.com/category/identi...o-ar-23-crash/

the pictures there also show some of the crew of the nightfighter crashed into the glider.

Re: Internet photo of German aircraft

Yap thats what I got for the 712283 - the name of the pilot is not readable, only Lt. ____ von ____ but I have them all as POW ??

Sadly I´m not in the company next time - there I had a mail I got from a nice guy from the netherlands about this crash. If I remember well there also the grave location -first burial- of the crew members is given. But it will take some weeks before I go back to work (must go for a hospital wednesday...)
