Looking for info about crashed FW200 Number 52 on 8 June 1943 in south west of France
I am looking for information or pictures about this aircraft or its crew:
This FW200 C-3/U2 from 9./KG 40 crashed on 8 June 1943 north of Toulouse after an engine inboard fire. The aircraft was flying loaded with bottles, garments etc.. when an engine took fire; The burning engine fell in a river shortly before landing (fierce fire!), the aircraft clipped trees and crashed in a field. All crew was alive (list here under) though hurt, and one crew died the next day. Any information about this machine and his crew is welcome; Flugzeugführer Olt Ulrici, Georg, Kampfbeobachter Uffz Drieschner, Walter, Bordfunker Uffz Koch, Günther, Bordfunker Uffz Niebauer, Johann, Bordmechaniker Ofw Zigon, Franz, Fluggast (Monteur) Fw Zitzen, Alfred, Fw Zitzen von Focke-Wulf. Seinen Verletzungen erlegen. VDK: 1943-06-09. This part (picture) is of course from this aircraft. Look forward to comments / ino. Thanks to all, GC Last edited by gilles collaveri; 26th September 2015 at 13:31. |

I have this as 7 June 43-0052, F8+PT (DE+OG) of 9/KG 40. Emergency landing near Castanet 1332 hrs due to engine fire on ferrying flight. I have Drischner & Kiebauer as the names and the passenger was the only one to die

Thanks Chris, this matches quite well.
I wonder if this aircraft came from Bordeaux which would make sense, since: - 9/KG40 was based there (am I correct?) and also - we found many fragments of wine of Bordeaux Wine in the field where it crashed; This FW200 was carrying back Bordeaux wine !! regards. Gilles |

Thanks Ed,
Chris Goss says 7 june 43, you say 8 June 43, is there any means to crosscheck ? (would you send me the QGM by PM ?) and if anybody has an idea on how find a picture of this aircraft, I would be delighted. All best. Gilles |
