Allied plate to ID
Hi All
This is the main plate from the engine? Is there anything more can be determined by the plate? Best Regards Jarek

Re: Allied plate to ID
The Allison V-1710 was mostly used by the P-40 and the P-38 series.
I'm pretty sure this is not the engine plate, but the gear box plate. It lists two models of engine, one of which was used on the P-63, and the other I'm not sure about. Allison made their own gear boxes. Can you tell us more about the history of this tag? The V-1710 was very popular with drag racers and racing boats long after the war. |

Re: Allied plate to ID
Joe Baugher's website here:
http://joebaugher.com/usaf_fighters/p39_14.html shows that P-39N had the V-1710-85 model of the Allison engine. As Bill has side, it does not seem to be the engine data plate, as it is lacking some of the information (such as valve adjustment specs) normally shown on those plates. Could this have come from gear box on a Russian P-39N? |

Re: Allied plate to ID
Hi
Colleagues, thank you very much for your help and the interesting link. I also have a suspicion that it will be rather P39 plane, on which the Russians flew. Plate comes from the plane crash, it's a new place may soon be carried out exploration. Best Regards Jarek

Re: Allied plate to ID
That's correct, I forgot that the P-39 and P-63 both used the V-1710.
