Ju87 massacre on 5/4/44?
866 IAP claim to have destroyed 5 Ju87 in a combat on this date at Kuguchay Station/Pavlivka in the Ukraine. Is there any confirmation of this?

Re: Ju87 massacre on 5/4/44?
Keith, your date is a little confusing. I have no Ju-87 losses for 5-Apr-44 and only one on 4-May-44 and that was in Germany.
I suggest (and this is true for ALL members) that we post in the format of DD-MMM-YY. When you spell out the month, it leaves no room for misinterpretation. |

Re: Ju87 massacre on 5/4/44?
No! Do not submit yourself to the dark side!!
Please continue to use all possible date format variations, it possibly feeds thousands of IT consultant families - without the confusion that follow erronous implementations and the fact that most US software companies tend to remember that there is a world outside the US at about Service Pack 1 time, project development time would be significantly reduced... Joke aside - good idea! Regards, Andreas B

![]() Blimey! It didn't occur to me. But now that you have raised it I understand. It may also explain why some sources have the dogfight of 04.05.1944 and others 05.04.1944! The answer however, in both cases is that there's no evidence of such an encounter taking place. The 866th seem to have been a little enthusiastic in their claims....

Re: Ju87 massacre on 5/4/44?
In my database I use date format according to the standard ISO 8601 (YYYY-MM-DD) due to its several benefits. If you wish to have a look at it, please go to:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ISO_8601 If you gentlemen have no strong objectives, I will continue to use this format. Matti |

Re: Ju87 massacre on 5/4/44?
There should be no objections. It's still mathematically linear, going from large to small. DD/MM/YY is the same, going from small to large.

Re: Ju87 massacre on 5/4/44?
I've been using the DD-MMM-YY format for years in my Access database. This is a parameter that can set in any Microsoft OS. Once set, as far as sorting by date, it works fine. I don't have to enter dates in the DD-MMM-YY format - a DD-MM-YY entry converts to the DD-MMM-YY in the actual displayed entry and you don't need to add leading zeroes. Stating the obvious - an entry of 6-6-43 will convert and display as 06-Jun-43.
So far, this date format has been recognizable by other MS OS machines where I've copied and opened my db set for a different date format and changes the date display correctly to that format. |
