158 IAP P-40 loss 1 feb 42

hi,

i have a question about the loss of one P-40 of this squadron in 01 feb 42
i found two claims on this date by two pilots of JG54:

3./JG 54 Oblt 1 2 42 P-40 Ostermann Max-Hellmuth 1050 * E J 62
3./JG 54 Fw 1 2 42 P-40 Lautenschlager Gerhard 1051 * E J 9

and i found a loss:

158 IAP lost AK295, which was shot down in aerial combat.

my question is: at least one lost for 2 claims? overclaim 2 * 1?
any more info....

anyone knows any website with information of P-40 losses of 154 IAP or 158 IAP?

many thanks,
regards

Both pilots survived the attack after being shot down. They were from the 158 IAP. Christer Bergstroem has a book on Ostermann which has this engagement.

Hi GM,

Are you sure AK295 which belonged to 147IAP/20GIAP is connected with this loss against JG54?

http://lend-lease.airforce.ru/englis...p-40/index.htm

As it was within the Arctic Circle? I would assume JG5.

AK295 was recovered and of course is now flying.

regards

Mark
