More Damaged German Aircraft for Identification
My dad was a mechanic with RCAF 403 Wolf Squadron
Here's a picture from my dad's album captioned "Damaged German Aircraft". I've seen other pictures of these planes but from a different angle. Two of my dad's crew can be seen standing in the cockpit of the big plane. Can anyone identify these planes and identify a location where this picture was taken? Cheers, Kickinghorse |

Re: More Damaged German Aircraft for Identification
@ Kickinghorse1,
thanks a lot for sharing all those very rare pictures. In this particular photograph You can see a Heinkel He 177 (the big bird) and a Focke-Wulf Fw 190 (the s/e plane). About the location the picture was taken i have no clue. Best Regards Norbert

Re: More Damaged German Aircraft for Identification
Yes, these are some nice photos indeed. The He 177 in this one might be He 177 A-3, Werknr. 135024, ND+SS; used at least temporarily by E-Stelle (Test centre) Rechlin. The location in this case could be Faßberg, but not with certainty...

Re: More Damaged German Aircraft for Identification
This is the He 177A-3 WNr. 135024 ND+SS. It was under evaluation at the test center Rechlin from spring 1943 until 1944. The white prototype number "V24" is still visible at the fin.
I have no information where this aircraft found it's last resting place.

I'm pretty certain it's Faßberg based on other photos I've seen.
