Peter Stahl

Hi guys

Peter Stahl published his second book of memoirs under the title KAMFFLIEGER ZWICSCHEN EISMEER UND SAHARA in 1972; I don't believe it has appeared in English.

Has anyone a copy and if so would you be prepared to scan the pages relevant to Stahl's time with KG30 in Finland/Far North. A translation in English would be a wonderful bonus.

I will of course compensate with a signed copy of the proposed book, or by other means.

Fingers crossed
Cheers
Brian

Re: Peter Stahl

Didn't it come out as "The Diving Eagle" or am I remembering wrongly?

Yeah, John, you got it. Notice how the Euro guys passed right by it. I guess they never heard of Snoopy's flying doghouse and his deadly air battles with the dreaded Red Baron!

Well Peanuts was heavily syndicated in this bit of Europe and the anthologies were in the bookshops. Not forgetting the single "Snoopy vs. the Red Baron" by the Royal Guardsmen, which was a hit in the UK.

That said, time to get back on topic, perhaps?

Re: Peter Stahl

Well, there was for more that 40 years, a comic strip named Peanuts. The main character was Charlie Brown. The other characters were a bunch of neighborhood 10 year olds who philosophized about adult issues in a humorous way. Snoopy was Brown's very intelligent Beagle who fantasized about flying against the Red Baron. He was on his doghouse.

Great series and tons of books around.

Re: Peter Stahl

Here's a link that might explain a bit further the whole "Snoopy and the Red Baron" thing to our non-North American friends:

This goes well with the impending Christmas time.
