Identification unknown german pilot

Hello,

we need help in identifying a unknown german pilot.
His name was Walter and he was from Berlin.
He was stationed 1944/45 at Parchim airfield. Which units were stationed there?
He was shot down and killed.

Who is able to help identifying the pilot. See enclosed photographs. Who saw this type of marking on a Fw 190 before?

Thanks

Uwe Benkel

Re: Identification unknown german pilot

Dear Mr. Benkel,

The Fw 190 A-8 on the photograph belonged to the Jagdgruppe 10. It is possible a red "1 . ". This unit was at the Parchim airfield between July and December 1944. The snake was in yellow and red color. The identity of the pilot is not known to me.

Hope this helps,
René

Re: Identification unknown german pilot

The picture of the FW190 is published in LW im focus #16. The text there says;

A Schwarm from 3/JGr10. from L to R; Uffz. Heinz Sonntag (KIA 8 apr 1945), Uffz. Walter Gerlach (KIA 14 feb 1945), Ofw. Heinz Natzinger and Uffz. Karl-Heinz Stelzer in front of an a/c wearing a "black 10" or "14". The FW190 A-8 is also equiped with the "crab" device and wears the red and yellow snake marking. The unit code "11" is missing from this machine, however.

Re: Identification unknown german pilot

Peter,

Unit code is "I1" not "11" ... And I did put it in Arial font to be as close as possible.

Re: Identification unknown german pilot

It's an misreading of Peter - the caption of the picture in the article is correct with "I1".
