Obfw Karl Wimberger

Hello,
I'm looking for any information relating to Obfw Karl Wimberger who defected to Lowestoft in a Bf-109 G12 5/15/44.
I understand he was taken prisoner, but I can't locate any information as to what happened after his capture. Did he return to Germany?
