The Crimson Route
Hallo,
Is there someone that has collected the missing and lost records of new aircraft deliverd from us aircraft producers, aircraft beeing ferried over to Greenland, Iceland and Prestwik, Scottland, in the years 1942 to 1944. Not the Bolero movement aircrafts. Aircraft lost around Greenland. |

Re: The Crimson Route
An uncomplete list: http://www.warcovers.dk/greenland/crash_list.htm
These crashes are in Greenland, not around it The book "Ocean bridge: the history of R.A.F. Ferry Command" covers the losses of RAF aircraft crossing the Atlantic with 45 Group. If you're interested in US losses, you can find some of the missing US aircraft by using http://www.aviationarchaeology.com/src/dbMACR.htm and typing FrG (ie Ferry Group) in the Group. It will list 82 MACR all over the world, but a good part are about the trans-Atlantic roads (both northen and southern). You can find some more losses in the accident lists in the same website: http://www.aviationarchaeology.com/src/dbaf.htm, here you can type the country code (ATL for Atlantic Ocean, GRN for Greenland, ICE for Iceland and so on). |

Re: The Crimson Route
Hallo,
Laurent and Leendert, thank you for this input. Crimson Route, Clayton Knight Committee, RAF Ferry Command and Air Transport Command, is one mystical ferry transfer of new aircraft from North America over to England. Starting with lend lease and over to replacement aircraft, in all 10.000 |
