Re: A few photos 5-29
The Ar 234 has a W after the fuselage cross but I can't really make out a fourth letter. There are some marks that may be part of an A — but I wouldn't swear to it. It looks like there is a Werk Nummer (last three digits) on the fin tip but nothing you can read.
The given location, Rodenbach, is close to the present USAF base at Ramstein. Bavaria was 1.(F)/100's turf but they used white third letters and H as the fourth. |

Re: A few photos 5-29
My two pennies this be Arado Ar 234 V20 (2nd C-1 prototype) 130030 PI+WY heavyly damaged in air attack Wesendorf 04.04.45, or V19 PI+WX (1st C proto) Last known in an hangar North of Gifhorn / Fliegerhorst Wesendorf, Germany 16.05.1945, or V21 3rd C proto PI+WZ. Anyways is seems to me have 4 engines, and C-like cockpit.

Re: A few photos 5-29
I´d say you´re right, Ed. The open entrance hatch of the cockpit is definitely a C-type hatch. Just compare it with B-type hatches.

Re: A few photos 5-29
This might be the same jet as being depicted on p.94 top of Smith-Creek´s Ar 234 monograph.
