ADVICE NEEDED - No 21 Squadron R A F 1939-1945

Can anyone help please ? I am giving consideration to writing a history of No 21 Squadron Royal Ar Force 1939 - 1945. I don't wish to reinvent the wheel. Has anyone previously carried out this task ?
Advice would be appreciated.

Re: ADVICE NEEDED - No 21 Squadron R A F 1939-1945

Dear Bill,

I do not recall seeing a definative history of 21 Sqn. Only bits on the Blenheim and on the Ventura in various magazines over the years.

Incidentally Aeroplane Monthly, October 2005, had some really good colour photos of 21 Sqn Blenheims at RAF Watton, taken in 1941, which are attributed to Magnum Press Agency archives in New York!

They would make a nice addition to your proposed book.

In April 1998 Aeroplane published a list of all known Squadron histories as a part of a special edition of the magazine to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the RAF. The list, compiled by Don Minterne, does not mention any book on 21 Sqn.

Does anyone have a report on the crash of 21 Squadron Blenheim Z7432 at Watton on July 6, 1941? Interested to know the names of the crew, cause of the crash and any aftermath. (I've seen the photo on the "Aviation of World War II" site.)

Thanks Greg. That leaves me confused, because the details in this item seem so complete.
