Hurricane Z6985

Hi guys

One for the detectives!

Z6985 is shown in AB Serials as having crashed on 26 November 1941. I believe this is incorrect and should be 20 November 1941, which is the day that the FAA pilot who normally flew this aircraft was killed. It was on an operational flight.
Can anyone throw any light on this?
NOW SOLVED - THANKS - LOST 20/11/41
Cheers
Brian

Brian

Just curious how you became certain the accident was on the 20th and not 26th? Both Air Britain's books state 26.11, which leads me to think that either the record card says 26th or it is so badly written that the last digit 6 was the most likely one..... Some other primary source perhaps?

Cheers

Hi Stig

I've just sent you a personal message.

In brief, I have since been advised that Lt Pangbourne's aircraft may have been V7858 (he was killed on 20th)

Cheers
Brian

Ahhh

Spot on Brian, that is what AB FAA book also says.
Got your mail, but I have only time to answer this one!

Happy New Year to you and Val. Look forward to 2015!!

Ohh, drop the honey and lemon, it spoils the flavour.... (Brian knows what I mean...)

Have to rush
Cheers
