Thanks Ed as ever!
Though checking methodically through Jean-Bernard Frappé's La Luftwaffe face au débarquement allié (1999), Fw 190 A-8 w.Nr. 171 524 "Gelbe 12" is not listed as a loss. Beyond this handicap, one will notice that on 25 August 1944, JG 6 lost W.Nr. 171522, W.Nr. 171526, 171527 and 171528. I therefore tentatively propose to identify W.Nr. 171 524 as a 7./JG 6 machine, left behind unserviceable at Herpy/Reims as that unit left on 31 August for Bonn-Hangelar.
