RAF Pilot W.C. " Kip " Hammond -Adler

Looking for information. American RAF pilot 1940 - 1943. Transferred to
USAF 1943 - 45 . 86th FBG , Italy. Flew P - 47s shot down Dec , 44
POW Stalag Luft #1. This is what he claims - trying to verify.

Sho ShooBaby,There is a record on the NARA WWII POW site of a 1st Lt. Clifford W. Adler, S/N O-886220,who flew with the 86th FBG and was taken POW on 12-16-44. Is this your man?Carlos

No problem! Do you think you can tell us a little more about your friend?
Some questions
(1) What RAF squadrons did he serve in?
(2) How was he shot down?
(3) Anything he can say about the 86th FG, a not very well documented unit?

Carlos- The original enquiry came from Wally Fydenchuck a Historian in Canada trying to verify his RCAF service. He is doing a series of books called "Immigrants of War " about Americans who joined RCAF WW II. See my review in books forum.
