Re: Wrecked FW 190's Germany 1945

Thanks for those highly interesting pictures, Waldo pepper. IMHO, we are looking at Fw 190 A-8's from Stab and I./JG 110 destroyed 14 April 1945 at Altenburg. Those pics were unknown to me so far.

Here are other pics from the same location:

Thanks again.

With a small correction: according to the US Signal Corps captions, those shots were taken 16 April 1945.

Waldo,

Thank you posting your most-intriguing photos.

Fl.Horst Altenburg, and the nearby Liena Woods, where many of these photos were taken have been of great interest to me for years.

Dear Marc-André,

the "Leinawald" is close east of the Fliegerhorst Altenburg (easy to find by using Google Earth).

Best Regards
Norbert

Re: Wrecked FW 190's Germany 1945

just have a look at the log roads. That´s how a completed log road was to look like (sand and earth on the logs to crete a smooth area for taxying).

Re: Wrecked FW 190's Germany 1945

Hi all,

the picture FW 190 wrecks May 45.jpg seems to me a Fw 190 trainer!
The cockpit frame is clear visible.
They have been converted from single seater to double seater in Altenburg.

best regards,

starmountain

Hello,

There is a faded color photo of the Fw 190, coded "10", page 20 of the close up number 8 (Fw 190 F).

Regards.
