Col. James B. Tipton P-47

Would anyone know which squadron maintained Col. Tipton's 44-19855 "Maggie M'Lassie" with the 358th Fighter Group? In the book Orangetails there is a photo of Tipton and his crew at the end of Chapter 5, but I can not decipher the crew names nor see if the code is CH, IA, or CP. I believe it should be a 366th ship with the i.d. of IA but would like to verify this, or if someone can provide one of the names of the crew, I could go through the roster and figure it out. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

Kent

From Short-Stuff's P-47 database:

44-19855

P-47D-28-RE 358th 366th IA-T
"MAGGIE M'CLASSIE" - Pilote : James B. Tipton

I have seen that reference but am not sure of the accuracy of IA-T, and note the name is incorrect. It seems logical the Group CO would have such a code, but I don't want to assume too much, thus my hope of at least narrowing down the squadron. I appreciate the help, though.

Re: Col. James B. Tipton P-47

First, fantastic shot of IA-T and it answers the question beyond a doubt. Second, I was not implying anything detrimental about the site--it has proven very useful, but in this particular case, I wanted to be positive of the i.d. as it (the code, not the photo) will be used in filling a "hole" in a manuscript currently at Schiffer Publishing in the design stage. Again, thanks to all for the help on this!
