Hi,

Could anyone provide information on a pilot in ZG26 called Josef (Bert) Hollzmann?

I have attached a portrait of him.

Thanks

Rick

Hi Rick

Could this be Oberfeldwebel Bartholomaus Holzmann of 1./ZG 1 & 1./ZG 26 ?

If so he was killed on 30th May 1944, and made the following claims:-

10th October 1943 B-17 20km SW Osnabruck 1518 hrs as Uffz with 1./ZG 1 Nr.1
10th October 1943 B-17 2km north of Vaasen 1540 hrs Nr.2
22nd December 1943 B-24 1500 hrs as Fw with 1./ZG 26 Nr.3
10th February 1944 B-17 1210 hrs U/C
24th February 1944 B-24 1340 hrs Nr.4
24th February 1944 B-24 1350 hrs as Fw with 1./ZG 26 Nr.5
12th May 1944 B-24 1515 hrs as Ofw with 1./ZG 26 Nr.6

Sorry, but don't know actual death details.

Regards

Johannes

Hi!
Bf 110 ZG 26 Lippspringe October 1943

Quote:
On 30 May 1944 the 8th USAF was sent to aviation factories and airfields in the western occupied zone. That morning from 10:00 I./ZG 26 in Königsberg-Neumark committed 13 of its new Me 410s. Ten made contact and seven were shot down including Holzmann who was KIA during combat (Reichsverteidigung). He may have made as many as thirteen claims in as many sorties.
