Air Sea Rescue 10/11th September 1942
Hi,
On the night of September 10th 1942 a Short Stirling of No.218 (Gold Coast) Squadron was forced to ditch 30 miles off the coast of Holland while on route to Dusseldorf. The skipper successfully ditched the aircraft, but sadly two of the crew were killed. The ORB states that the crew were found and rescued by a Air Sea Rescue aircraft the following day. However, there is another report that suggests the crew were recovered by a High Speed Launch. Obviously, they could have been working together, but I would like to establish who actually picked up the crew. TIA Steve
