153 Wing RAF 1942
Hi guys
It was the one-time intention to send a newly-formed 153 Wing to aid Russia in mid-1942. I understand that it was to comprise four squadrons of Spitfires and two Hurricane ground-attack squadrons. Do we know which squadrons had be considered/allocated? Cheers Brian |

Brian
For full chapter and verse can I refer you to Blood Sweat and Courage by Steve Brew (41 squadron 1939 - 1942) - Chapter 9 Deployment to Russia 15 June - 31 July 1942 - which will tell you all you need to know about what transpired, the squadrons involved, and why they didn't go to Russia. cheers Allan

Re: 153 Wing RAF 1942
Brian - what an admission - this is sad news, not owning a copy - you need both Blood Sweat and Courage (1939 - 1942) and Blood Sweat and Valour (1942 - 1945), both by Steve, which covers off the whole war period for 41 Squadron.
Available at all good book shops as they say - plus Amazon etc. etc. From Fonthill Media. cheers Allan

Brian
I doubt it :-) However, as it is the season of goodwill to all men (and women of course) I will have to take the word of an established author about it, or it casts doubts on the accuracy of your books :-) If you haven't put them on your Christmas list I suggest you do so now as a matter of urgency, and let your less poor relations buy them for you :-) cheers Allan p.s. from somebody who owns them both !! (lucky me :-) !)

If someone is poor so I should start thinking about how this out of poverty, rather than proclaim to all and sundry that it is poor! Poverty is not no disgrace. It is a disgrace ordinary human laziness (and intellectual) and passive expectation that the merciful God will deliver someone out of poverty with the help of the miracle (lightning?). As the Lord said (free translate), "he who gives a shit life is and shit in your life will get". Amen, :-). There are no miracles only the path of our the Lord. Amen, :-) mw

All right everyone, let's cool the rhetoric.
The thread is about 153 wing, not personal finances or life styles! |
