Gruß Gott Jens!

I believe that unless some reader has some unusual and hitherto unknown capability, you will not be able to identify the aircraft from which your Fw 190 data plate came. The reason is that the plate belonged to a part or component and is not the main aircraft data plate. In all probability, the Werknummer shown on the plate should be linked to the part or component rather than to the airplane itself. Said another way, only the aircraft's main data plate will give you the airplane's Werknummer and thus allow identification of it to be made.

Jens:

I second Rabe's assessment. The plate shown is of a type commonly used by Focke Wulf on assorted subassemblies, parts and components. Information found on those plates refers to those individual items, not the host aircraft. It should be noted that a Fw 190’s werk nummer was sometimes stamped on plates in addition to the main identification plate. For example, on a plate fitted inside the fuselage or inside vertical stabilizer. Yours is not one of those, however. Examples of 190 main plates can be seen at: http://fw190.hobbyvista.com/plates.htm

Re: Unit of this Fw-190 wreck?

Thx alot guys, my knowledge of Werknr. is very little.

1227 means that?
19.07.1943 Rätz Paul Fw. 4. II. FL
NL j.d.L verm. Fw190A-5 (150)1227
we A 100% Pl. Qu. 20124 19.07.1943

According to text at the website this 190 was found between Kirischi und the Ilmen-Sea.

4./JG54 means II/JG-54 which fought mainly at the Kursk battle in July 43, so was 4. Staffel located in the North?

Hi Jens

Rätz fly in the 4.(Jabo)/JG 54. The 4.II./JG 54 was in this time the 12.Staffel.
