Uffz. Karl Bay, + 07.09.1940

Gentlemen,

Uffz. Karl Bay of an unknown unit died in a crash of his a/c on 7th September 1940 in Germany. His unit is given as "Einheit 04345".

I was not able to find a regarding entry in the GQM returns (even in those of "Schulen und sonstige Verbände").

Is there anythong known about this loss?

Regards,

Heuser

I believe that this aircraft crashed in the early hours of 7 September 1940 as follows:

4./KG26 Heinkel He111H-4 (5704). Crash-landed near Köppern on return from night sortie a.m. Cause not stated. BF Uffz Karl Bay killed, FF Uffz Hermann Kassel badly injured - admitted to hospital in Bad Homburg, rest of crew unhurt. Aircraft 1H+FM 100% write-off.

Gentlemen,

thank you very much! I have found the GQM return, but not the correlating entry about this crew.
