Re: Bombed out airfield, Southern Germany, 1945
Hello Marc
The hangar could be the aircraft works at Neubiberg ( s.Zapf " Flugplätze der Luftwaffe Bd.9 p.424 pic.0774). Regards from St.Gallen to Geneva Harold |

Re: Bombed out airfield, Southern Germany, 1945
Hallo HArold,
Thanks for your thoughts ! After checking out the available images, I wonder if we do not see here actually Fliegerhorst Roth as found by the US Army after the severe USAF bombing of 8 April 1945. The layout and damage pattern to the glass parts of the one hangar to be seen here are similar... http://rgt26.org/Geschichte%20Standort1.htm Cheers Marc |

Re: Bombed out airfield, Southern Germany, 1945
Hi Marc
Yes, you are right, Roth seems to be the right answer indeed. This will also explain the remains of a Me262 in the foreground - as mentioned in the text - and matches with the Bf109 G-12 (JG104) and the Ju290 A-7 PJ+PS (also a pic in the auctions of the same seller) which was at Roth in June 1945. Thanks and cheers to Geneva Harold I attached the (modern) pic of Neubiberg I mentioned above......which led me on a wrong track, ha-ha ![]() |
