Meaning of V on Cowling of Ju 88 D-1

Can anyone tell me what the letter V means on this 1/Aufkl.ObdL aircraft. Even Ed North cannot say for certain!

Maybe a D-5 with VDM metal prop. Unit had both D-1 and D-5 so a marking to prevent mounting a wrong prop type wouldn't be a bad idea.

This is a so called "Wartungswinkel". Has to do with the number of "Teilüberholungen" and "Grundüberholungen" (overhaul) of the engine Jumo 211.
More details will be available in my planned book on the Ju 88 (30% complete).

That´s interesting so I guess there are images with other numerals like I, II, III or IV as example.
