Ju 88 A on Normandy Coast May 41
Before I have to start in depth research, is there anyone out there who can save me time by telling me if there is any record of a Ju 88 force-landing on the Normandy coast May 1941 having returned from attacking Liverpool with a starboard engine out. The crew were uninjured

Found it:
1 May 41-Ju 88 A-6, 883414, 1/KG 54. Engine failure following Flak hit attacking Liverpool. Force-landed in the sea north of Villerville

1/KG54.
Junkers Ju88A (3414). Sortie to Liverpool. Damaged by flak and crashed in the Channel off Le Havre, France. Gefr. Alexander Klukowsky (F), Gefr. Willi Beckermann (Bs) killed. Obgefr. Josef Krogull (Bm) missing. Aircraft lost. Looks like only one man survived, and I don't have his name.

Luftflotte 3 says crew were rescued-most odd. 4 crew are seen on the fuselage? Nothing else matches for all of May 41

Radtke gives the same info on the crew as in post #3 but according to Radtke Beckermann was the Beobachter and the a/c was a A5, not an A6.
Does anyone have seen photos of this forced landing? Kind regards, Rudi.

Ed has pointed out that this ac is not an A-6 and a check again says ac ditched just off Villerville returning from Liverpool with an engine out from Flak and that one crewman was rescued; nothing on the others. The notes on the reverse are specific about date, location and target and thanks to Matti, there is nothing else that possibly matches. Thoughts?

All the facts appear to fit, except from the photo, the aircraft does appear to have made a successful force landing on the coast, so how come 2 died, 1 missing, and one had to be rescued?

Rudi-there is no need for a scan as it is typed & clearly states Normandy, Liverpool & May 1941. Nothing about unit, crew or fates. Note that those in the photo are more senior in rank
