He 111 ditched approx 49N 10W 23 Sept 1940

My apologies for the vagueness of this query, but I wonder if there is a record of a He 111 ditching at 48deg 50min N, 10deg 15min W on 23 September 1940.

I'm trying to help a thread on the Key Publishing forum at http://forum.keypublishing.com/showt...September-1940 .

Brian

There is a comprehensive account of this incident and the rescue operations in Pierre Babin's new (French-language) book, Le Wekusta 2 au Combat.

I think it was Pierre who raised the question first

Yes, I asked the question on a new website for me "Key Publishing Ltd Aviation forum". And, spontaneously, my friend Brian "forwarded' it on TOCH forum.

In fact I know very well all about the story of the Wekusta 2's He 111 ditched on 23rd September 1940 ... excepted the probable intervention of a Walrus in the rescue of this He 111. All my approaches to get a precise information about this tiny part of the story, were unsuccessful. And, "just for the fun" (my book is published) I wanted to know if a Walrus was involved and to which unit he belonged.

Pierre

There is an account about the Walrus but won't be able to pull the file until August. Had written the incident into Coastal Dawn in version one, but it end up being edited out. Original file was lost during a break in.

Kind Regards

Andy Bird
