Identification of Pilots from II./JG3
Hi all
I would love to identify these two pilots from Stab II./JG3. If anyone knows who they are I would be very glad to hear. Any help welcome.

![]() Hello Tim,
These Stab II/JG 3 photos were apparently taken in Russia during June 1941. The pilot of the "<+-" (on the left with white scarf in first 2 photos) is definitely Oblt. Franz Beyer. He served with Stab II/JG 3 briefly until moving back to 8./JG3 as staffelkapitan on July 12, 1941. The other pilot, standing to the right of Beyer in the first 2 images (actually same photo) and shown "dismounting" a Stab II/JG 3 Me 109F in the 3rd image, is apparently Oblt. Karl Faust. He flew for an even shorter time with II Stab/JG 3 in Russia, being appointed staffelkapitan of 4./JG 3 on June 18, 1941 after Gordon Gollob became Gruppenkommandeure of II/JG 3. Faust achieved 14 victories in Russia during his brief tenure there, prior to his death on July 12, 1941, flying Me 109 F2 w.n. 9164 white 5. By the way, nice photos! Were these from e-bay? Regards, Russ |

Re: Identification of Pilots from II./JG3
Russ, you are an absolute star. That is fantastic information. Thank you very much indeed.
The images come from an album I acquired, which contains a lot of images of II./JG3 aircraft, personnel, trucks and cars. The images seem to date mainly from 1940 but I think others cover the period up to 1943. I am happy to share via e-mail if you are interested in seeing more or have a particular interest. Please drop me a Private Message if we can help each other further. Thanks again
