Uffz.M. Schiffer KIA 23.5.40
Hi, could anybody help with the usual loss details for the following:
He111P 5/KG55 Uffz Schiffer KIA, 2 others slightly wounded and forced landed nr Trier. 23.5.40. Particularly seeking identity of a/c if known, crew names and functions. Best regs, Steve.

5./KG55 Heinkel He111P. Forced-landed at Trier-Euren damaged by fighters during sortie to attack troop concentrations near Soissons. Probably that attacked by F/Lt Warcup, F/O Thorn, and Sgt Clowes of No. 1 Squadron together with unidentified French fighters. Pilot unhurt, BS Uffz Matthias Schiffer killed, BM Fw Hans Volg and BF Uffz Kurt Groß both slightly wounded. Aircraft 10% damaged but repairable.
