Loss of Bf 109E-7 of 3.Erg/JG2 on 17th July 1941

On 17th July 1941 3.Erg/JG2 lost a Bf 109E-7 (Werk Number not known), which failed to return from a sortie, presumably over Cherbourg area?

Can anyone add any further details of the pilot and the circumstances?

Thanks Chris,

The Blenheim was shot down at 15.10 hrs and last transmissions from it suggested the turret gunner was firing back at something, said to a stray barrage balloon on the sea, but I wondered if by chance it it was a Bf 109. Now that seems unlikely.
