Etched Infanterie Sturmabzeichen on alu plate. HS129?

I have recently bought such a thing. Please let me know Your thoughts. Could it be from a plane or is it just trench art?

I believe, this is not from the plane:
A.) On the plane it would be painted, not etched.
B.) The protective black asphalt or bituminous cover is on both sides. That would be impossible to be done on the plane.
C.) The size seems wrong (too small), compared with the photo.

Conclusion: Some kind of art, could possibly be trench art. I can't vouch for authenticity, though.
