Was Major Emil Badorrek awarded the Narvik Shield?
De Zeng and Starkey on their magnificent work Career Summaries - Luftwaffe Officers 1935 - 1945, from Section A - F do not inform if Major Emil Badorrek was ever awarded the Narvik Shield.
Those two sites do show the face of Badorrek: http://www.luftwaffe39-45.historia.n...a.asp?vnum=220 https://www.valka.cz/Badorrek-Emil-t123621 Those pictures apparently do matches that enclosed PDF, where it seems we do have Major Erwin Fischer (EL on the neck) and Emil Badorrek (RK on the neck) with another Oberleutnant who seems to be Bodo Proetzel. Does anyone knows if BADORREK was awarded the Narvik Shield? If so, this could be indeed Badorrek depicted with, apparently Fisher. A. Last edited by Adriano Baumgartner; 12th August 2020 at 19:10. |

In my opinion no.
Here is another photo Badorrek: https://military.wikia.org/wiki/Emil..._Badorrek4.jpg |

Re: Was Major Emil Badorrek awarded the Narvik Shield?
I do agree with you that, depending on the angle that the few pictures of him do exist, it seems another person. The photo you sent I have seen too; and, of course, he does not like the same as on the other previous ones.
But if you look carefully on the left upper sleeve, on the picture and site you enclosed, it seems there is something attached to his sleeve...it may be the Narvik Shield, although I have never seen previous photos of this officer with this award. A. |

Re: Was Major Emil Badorrek awarded the Narvik Shield?
The problem is so many shields of various types were issued and few records remain? It was by comparison to other awards just a campaign award

I seem to recall seeing only four or five. Krim, Narvik, Lappland, Kuban and possibly Kreta.

.....and multiply by those who were entitled or awarded, you can understand why records would be incomplete especially 75+ years on

Re: Was Major Emil Badorrek awarded the Narvik Shield?
@Adriano Baumgartner: Your pic definitely doesn't show Fischer and Badorrek. The two officers with RK were Helmut Bruck at left (Kommodore SG 77) and Karl Henze (Kommandeur I./SG 77). Compare it with other pics of them!
