Re: Bundesarchiv Militärarchiv (BAMA) digitization plans

Hello Hans,

Thank you and thanks also to Steve Coates, who first made me aware of the fact that digitisation of the files at the Bundesarchiv Militärarchiv has progressed. Steve advised me to take a look at files within RL 1, and it is indeed the case that some interesting items have become available. Here is an example, a set of printed copies of orders by Hermann Göring issued at the end of the war, found using the Deutsche Digitale Bibliothek. One of the orders concerns the dismissal of Adolf Galland from his position as General der Jagdflieger:

Reichsmarschall-Befehle Nr. 2 - Nr. 20 (Druck)
Archivaliensignatur: Bundesarchiv, BArch RL 1/4

deutsche-digitale-bibliothek.de/item/2WVNBJ6FRW36BDT27AXIY6XARROWLNCD

To look at the digitial version of the file, it is necessary to take two steps:

1. Click the link at the top or bottom of the file description at the Deutsche Digitale Bibliothek link, with the text 'Objekt beim Datengeber anzeigen'

2. Once the link to the Invenio catalogue opens, find the text 'Digitalisat anzeigen' at the bottom of the file description there, click it and then you will see the digitised file

Regards,

Dan

The only drawback as such is that the images within each files have to be individually downloaded but this is a very welcome step forward.

Horst,

While Hans has given you the correct link, should you wish to register, you do not need to do so in order to view the digitised documents. You can simply close the pop-up window on the website of the Invenio catalogue by clicking on the cross in the top right corner of this window, and you will then see the catalogue record view, with the headings 'Archivsignatur', 'Titel und weitere Informationen' and 'Laufzeit'. You simply need to scroll down the page to see the 'Digitalisat anzeigen' link for the relevant document. Click on that and the document will open in a popup window.

I suggest those forum members who are experts in Computer Science might be able to create a workaround which will allow users to download the document images more efficiently.

Regards,

Dan

Re: Bundesarchiv Militärarchiv (BAMA) digitization plans

Hi,

The system I'm using is :

First go to :
https://invenio.bundesarchiv.de/basy...nio/main.xhtml
at the left side you’ll find ‘Tektonik’ . With the arrow up and arrow down you can navigate to the various subjects.

With ‘Klassification’ (at the lower left side) one can go more in detail, which are shown at the right side of the screen. For the files which are available you find the field Digitalisat anzeigen . When you click on this field you come to the digital file in question.

Good hunting !

Best regards

Luc

The images are in colour and in high resolution. But Steve is right that it is very time-consuming to download the individual images.

Horst, you can register here https://invenio.bundesarchiv.de/basy...register.xhtml
