Much of your query can be found on internet. To start with the date you can search the database at www.armyairforces.com Just select MACR Db and you'll be able to fill in the date, resulting in a list of all Missing Air Crew Reports that date, together with serial and unit. Second step may be checking the website of www.littlefriends.co.uk With the aid of the unit and serial number in step one it's possible to track the name of the pilot and his fate.
