Photo B-24D Lib landed in Cyprus 6 Jan 1943

Hi!

Need some help with this photo to determine which unit the B-24 belonged to.
I can’t figure out any unit, with those markings on the tail or the square on the wing.

Any clues?

Regards
JohanSwe

Hello,
One of the first Ploesti raiders, interned in Turkey and wearing
Turkish AF markings, white crescent and star on red square visible
on the rudder.

Is there any info about the interned crew that landed with this Liberator on Cyprus?
Who they where?

And thanks for finding out which Liberator it was.

Regards

Johan

No answer to your question, but I can't believe the aircraft came down on Cyprus. As far as I know Cyprus was in British hands during the entire war and it was not divided into a Turkish and "Greek" part until 1960 when the British more or less left.

Cheers
Stig
