Interesting! I have the Flugbuch to Hauptmann Erich Bunge, the StKap of 5/SG4, who also flew on the 2 Feb (Flugbuch records a single Feindflug 1140-1235 which I assume was the same mission) and who was shotdown and WIA on the 20th Feb himself.
I looked at Vol 4 of "The Mediterranean Air War" and it lists Radebold's loss and says in the text the 92 Sqn Spitfires flew a patrol in the 'evening' where they encountered the FW190s of 5/SG4, but the time of the claim for Radebold is 1320, which would tally with Bunge's Flugbuch. I assume this is a simple error ref evening and would assume the StKap would have been leading his men on that mission? |
