Would like the identity of the German pilot
and any other info on him, In Charlie Johnson's monumental book, history of the Hell Hawks, photo page 368. Pilot bailed out of his damaged aircraft over the airfield at Metz during Bodenplatte. "German pilot spoke excellent English and would not allow his photo to be taken until he was allowed to comb his hair and shine his boots". Ofw. Stefan Kohl, 13/JG53 is the identity given in Bodenplatte by Manrho and Putz, but I would like confirmation and any other information.

Re: Would like the identity of the German pilot
What kind of confimation do you seek? Mr Stefan Kohl confirmed to me that he is the pilot in the picture. He also gave me a picture of himself and he can be clearly be identified as the pilot. However, he remembers the whole story "slightly" different than his American captors....
