Bomber & Recce/Trans RK Winners: Obermaier

Hi all
can anyone cast any light on what happened to Obermaiers work on bomber and reece/tanrport RK winners. I am sure that I heard that the work was well advanced before his death, then someone else obtained the material with the aim of publishing. Subsequently some legal wrangle occured with pubishers. Is there any substance to this? and is there anything in the pipeline? I am sure there would be great demand for these tiltes.

Bryan

Bryan-

Unfortunately I cannot comment on the Obermaier books other than to confirm that completion of this series would be greatly appreciated. There was another attempt probably 5-10 years ago to create a complete listing of KC winners for all branches of the Wehrmacht:

Die Ritterkreuzträger der Deutschen Wehrmacht 1939-1945. Sammlung sämtlicher Ritterkreuzträger, gegliedert nach Waffengattungen. Herausgegeben von Franz Thomas und Günter Wegmann. Format 29,7x21 cm. Lwd.

However these volume only made it through the Infantry, U-Boot service, Fallschirmjaeger and Luftwaffe Flak (though I'm probably missing a few Gebirgsjaeger perhaps). Regrettably like other attempts on this subject it ran out of gas before completion even though the volumes were intended to cover all branches of the LW flying service, Recon., Bomber, Transport etc.

Curious if anyone else has info. on Obermaiers work.

Regards

Jeremy

Re: Bomber & Recce/Trans RK Winners: Obermaier

In the books vol. 1 and 2 "Transporter" by Martin Pegg, Classic colours there is numerous pictures of Transport RK winners.
I also have a lot of pictures in my collection of ADLER magazines and books from the time. With a little luck i can help you if you need a picture of a specific person.
Best wishes
Christian

Re: Bomber & Recce/Trans RK Winners: Obermaier

Hi Christian
many thanks for the reply and kind offer. I collect Luftwaffe RK signatures - got well over 800. It is the details on RK winners that I am after. Probably can't get the same details as Obermaier's jagdflieger, but maybe get the same as Stuka men. Promotion dates, mission dates (number), appointments, etc. For instance I have a signed (Adler) piece of Birnkraut - apart from RK award details I know nothing about him. Also Brinkmann, Felder, Hagena, Hengst, Hemmer, Kaeber, Kmitta, Kuhenne to name but a few. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello Bryan,

at German publisher VDM you can find
KC holders of KG 1 and 2 of Ralf Schumann.
More editions of this series will follow.
If I know right some authors work hard to publish
the KC holders of recce units!

With the best wishes,
Sven.
