What do you think of the new Forum?

Please take some time to participate in this poll.

Also take the opportunity to explain your choice or post your remarks and/or suggestions.

As always even negative feedback is useful.

Question Re: What do you think of the new Forum?

I don't mind that someone regards this new forum as a step back, but I wonder what he (or she) considers the step back to based upon.

It might be insufficient knowledge of this new forum, since there is no area where vBulletin is inferior to phpBB.

Please explain why you should consider this a step back or worse.

Re: What do you think of the new Forum?

I wouldn't call it a step back, however I liked the colours of the old forum much more. Also the signs whether or not a post is new or already read were more clear (for me) in the old forum. What I like is the CP with its different options and the quick links. So, the disadvantages for me are only optical ones.
P.S. I didn't vote at the poll, shame on me......

Thumbs up Re: What do you think of the new Forum?

Well to me the poll itself is less important, if I want to improve the forum I need feedback. My own ideas of improvement might not be the same as those of the community, hence this method of information gathering.

The visited links issue is the same as mentioned by Yves M., the issue can be easily resolved but will change the default look in terms of all links.

There might be other options, but those would probably require some modification of the page code.

As for a different look. That is currently low on my priority list (No.1 is functionality), but I will try and create some more original styles - if people really enjoyed the previous one it would be failry easy to reconstruct in here as an option.

Coming weekend I'll have some extra time, perhaps I'll dedicate that to playing around with the styles.

This weekend I will work on a more original logo for the forum.

Small steps.

Thanks for your feedback, it was most educating.

Re: What do you think of the new Forum?

It just takes some time to be used. Several forums have changed their format and since they use different servers and softwares main trouble is to understand how they work. After this all is easy!
It´s easier to find old topics and notice new responses or topics. Don´t care about avatar or icon but nothing against.

Re: What do you think of the new Forum?

As Robert noted, icons are not clear and of little help. Also, the ones on the main page do not refresh for some reason. Concerning colours, I think the worsest is the white background which is IMHO rather distracting.
The worsest thing is that the page is self refreshing and unread posts are becoming 'read' marked even if not touched. Anything can be done with it?
Otherwise no complaints.
