Obstlt Ewald Janssen - Kommodore SG 4
Could someone give me more information about this officer´s activities?
Apparently he flew Ju 87 A with the Condor Legion ( did he fly with them ? ). Later he flew with StG.163 and StG.2. From mid 1943 up to October, he was Gruppenkommandeur I/JG 300, where he claimed a 4-engined RAF bomber on 23/24 September 1943. ( Could someone inform me the codes of his machine, werknummer or add any more claim while with JG 300 )? He was then posted to JG 302 ( Any claim with this unit ? ) Finally he assumed, as Kommodore, the SG 4. On 24 October 1944 he claimed a Il-2 with this unit ( his final victory as far as I know ). He flew more than 300 missions and was awarded the RK later on October 1944. Why he lately was dismissed from SG 4? Where he went then? Any details of his claims, or successes as a Stuka or SG pilot? Was he injured on operations while with SG 4? Glad in advance….he apparently came to Brazil and died here. Major Martin Drewes told he met Janssen here, but lost contact. Thank you in advance for any news on this officer´s career. Adriano |

..pic of his G-6 in the Lorant/Goyat JG 300 book....the aircraft has a very dark heavily mottled finish ..but the area just ahead of the Balkenkreuz is obscured so no markings are visible..

Re: Obstlt Ewald Janssen - Kommodore SG 4
OneEagle: Thanks for that info. Do you have any DATA about his claims with JG 300 or JG 302 a part the 4-engined recorded on the night of 23/24 September 1943? There are some pictures of him on the book you mentioned of Lorant/Goyat?
Stig: You added a bit more from what I had, principaly the time he spent as a Stuka instructor and as Kommandant at Cottbus. Glad! I unfortunately do not have this magnific book, although I already saw one for some minutes, but: there is any kind of information about how many bridges, tanks, ships, vehicles, guns, etc...he claimed as a Stuka or Schlachtflieger on the RK book? If yes, could you share those numbers with me, please? Glad to both of you...Actually it seems that the wife of Obstlt Janssen is writing a book in German about his husband. I met and know hiw grand-son who is an Airline Pilot on Helicopters here in Brazil. But can´t add no more about his career a part what I had posted and found on the net. Glad again for your help...
