pointedeflèche 6th July 2006, 15:35 Hello, Does anyone have information pertaining to a De Havilland Mosquito of No. 21 (RAF) Squadron, lost in the early hours of September 29th 1944? Information with regard to the crew, the Mark, the aircraft's serial number, the fuselage code, the mission, the cause of loss, etc… would be much appreciated. Regards, Dirk Steve49 6th July 2006, 18:00 According to 2nd TAF, 21 Sqn Mosquito VI 'NT179' (FO G.D. MacLeod (Canadian) and FO A.C. Wiggins) was shotdown by flak during a mission to the Utrecht-Dusseldorf area. Both aircrew were killed and are buried in the Leoplodsburg war cemetery. Regards Steve Pegge mhuxt 7th July 2006, 11:15 Didn't Brian have this as one of his friendly fire incidents? "2nd TAF" says this was "sdbAf" - shot down by Allied fire? - and Air Britain says it was "shot down by another intruder over Germany". I think Brian had another Mosquito, from 219 Sqn., as the culprit. Kind regards Ross |
