Airframes paperwork
Hello,
What is the german name for the papers/form where an airframe (and its motor) had annotated their hours of flying time? Who were tasked in fullfit them? the unit's chief mechanic of every aircraft? The TO? When a LW recovery team takes an crashed/damaged aircraft from the front, to a repair/remanufacturing stablishment, also takes care of asking the papers to parents units to follow its records when assigned to other unit? Best regards Francisco |

Re: Airframes paperwork
Hi. The document was called a Lebenslaufakte, and when an aircraft was recovered, the unit that was tasked with recovering it should also get the necessary papers from the holding unit. The aircraft could change unit at this point, depending on the amount of damage. I am currently researching this topic and have found some documents in the Bundesarchiv this week that hpefully will clear this up a bit. If the aircraft did not change unit (or Halter as it is written in German) it was simply returned to the unit after repair, in the other case it seems that the repair wrks became holding unit until the aircraft was ready for reentry into service, and it was redirected to wherever it was needed.
