Radar or something else?
As we all know, during the Battle of Britain the Luftwaffe spent a brief period of time attacking Chain Home (CH) radar stations and then stopped.
My question is, how were these targets identified to Luftwaffe Stuka/Kampfgruppe crews? I know the stations were High Frequency sensors and that Fighter Command used HF radios to August 19, I know the Germans were unsure about British radars despite having a Post Office sigint station on the coast and I also know they began jamming CH radars from September 9. But did they recognise the CH system as search radars before mid August? Over to you Tango Echo Dog |
